Taylor's Lakeside Campus

Welcome to Taylor Lakeside University Campus. The lakeside campus is operated on March 2010.

Taylor University College consisted of threes campus and the new campus is Taylor Lakeside campus. The lakeside campus environment is very spectacular! Which surroundings with natural tropical greenery and with a nice view of lake. The campus consist of a lot of facilities, including lecture theatres, labs, restaurants and training rooms of the Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts faculty.

The campus consisted of 5 blocks of building:

- Block A is General Administration, Admissions, Student Services, Marketing, Multi Service Restaurant

- Block B is Experimental Theatre, Multi-Purpose Hall, Student Union

- Block C is Training Restaurants, Practical Kitchens, Lecture Theatres, Divisional Offices, Library, Graduate School, Computer Labs, Staff Room

- Block D is Culinary and Bar Theatre, Drawing & Design Studios , Lecture Theatres, Reception and Hotel Suites, Divisional Offices, Video/Audio Labs, Health Science Laboratories, ICT Centre, Staff Room

- Block E is Gallery, Carpentry, Engineering Laboratories, Divisional Offices, Lecture Theatres, Design Studios, Moot Court, Staff Room

The facilities that consist in the lakeside campus as the following;

1) IT facilities

- All the computer rooms is equipped with high end performance computer desktops.

- High speed wireless that cover the whole campus, which helping the student easy go online for doing research.

2) Student Service Centre

- Student Central, which provide Career Services for industrial placements; and work and career advice.

- Lounge with TV, foosball, darts and pool table.

- Student Council Office, Discussion rooms and Extra Curricular Activities Office.

- The Student Life Centre spacious lounge is ideal for catching up with studies, group studies and group discussion.

3) The Library is a 4-storey, equipped with:

- 24/7 study areas and Discussion rooms.

- The library is caters with difference design styles for difference study.

- It caters all the study material and books for the courses.

- A library study environment is very comfortable, like home.

- Multimedia rooms and Theaters for students.

- Computers Rooms equipped with computer desktops & color printers and Printing & photocopying facilities.

4) Restaurant and catering:

- Truffles Restaurant: a restaurant which offers trendy, exquisite and contemporary dining with a variety of menu choices.

- The price is very reasonable for the foods and service is excellent like dining in a high class hotel restaurant.

- Thyme & Tarragon Restaurants: offer simple and contemporary dining experience.

5) Outdoor Amphitheatre

- A courtyard ideal for events and performances.

6) Hotel suites

- Hotel is for students to practice housekeeping techniques.

7) The Tourism Practical Room

- Student can get the real world experience and real-world skills at how to planning and designing tourism package, conducting airline ticketing booking and negotiating with industry suppliers for tourism packages.

I ‘m very proud to be a “Taylorian”, which I’m sure there is a bright future for Taylor's and me. With the spectacular, natural environment and facilities I’m sure with no doubt that Taylor Lakeside Campus can be a grade A University College for most students that want to enroll courses here. The learning environment is very impressing as well.

Holidays trip 2

After check-in, we unpack ours stuffs than get ready to having dinner inside the hotel restaurant. When at diner once of my friend suggest want to watch “Ais Kajang Puppy Love” movie. I want to introduce this movie which title is “Ais Kajang Puppy Love”.

“Ais Kajang Puppy Love” is one production of the movie director Ah Niu, he invested all his heart, sweat and money on this movie. It is also a local production movie that collects a group of top Malaysian Chinese Artist joined on it such as Nicholas Teo, Angelica Lee, Penny, Victor Wong, Gary Chaw, Fish Leong, and Chan Kwok-kwank.

"Ice Kacang Puppy Love" is based on Taiwan-based Malaysian Ah Niu growing up inPenang. In this directorial debut, he also stars as the boy who is a little shy. It's love at first sight when a girl moves to his forsaken Penang village and he grows up with her through primary school to secondary school. However, she's a bit of a tomboy who can fight off bullies while he's “Ah Niu” the boy so timid that he can't even make coffee at his father's shop.

The story is about develops largely around both of them featuring quarrels of love and relationships between family and friends, it express that love should be not be a complicated issue, and yet to show the unconditional love. It features a few World Heritage Sites in Penang as which included 姓周桥 “Chew Bridge”, 旧关仔角 “Gurney Drive” and 渡轮 “Boat that carry peoples and cars from mainland to Penang Island”. Moreover, this movie filled with a lot much of funny scenes in between, this movie will make you laughs until tear come out. It is an awesome local movie which I never watched.

After watched movie we went to a club which name “Safari”. Last time I been “Safari” was on 2010 new year countdown, it is awesome that time on the countdown. Safari is an awesome club that I had been. There have two stages inside the club, in front of the stage have a dance floor, many teenagers even some “uncle” will show their dance skills on the dance floor and make the atmosphere livelier. Furthermore, the “Safari” environment and DJ is awesome the DJ can speak so many languages. We are ordered one jar of beers, it is quite more for me due to I’m easy to get drunk. At that night, we all almost like crazy people…

Early in the morning, we set off all stuff to meet for breakfast and preparing to check-out. Before leaving the hotel’s room, we took a lot of photos with each others. Morning at Genting is very cold especially at outdoor, and we took a lot photos inside Genting Highland Hotel and some at outdoor.

In afternoon, we went to shopping and bought some presents for our parents or friends. Inside the shopping mall, actually it is joined with the indoor themes park, there got cinema, indoor rides, restaurants and so on. There are one shop is very attracting to me which is a fake tattoo shop, I’m not like tattoo, but I prefer make a fake once for fun. I line my name on my left leg and it looked very nice.

Time gone so fast, this two days trip just passed like two hours. This trip we went back by bus around 4 o’clock. This trip is very fun and exciting especially the theme parks rides and we will never forget this sweet and happy trip. It will always be in ours memory.

Holidays trip 1

Holidays, I been invited by my seven friends they are my secondary school’s friend go to Genting Highland. Genting Highland is the most famous highland in Malaysia, it is located at Pahang. At Genting Highland there have a lot of entertainment such as casino, indoor and outdoor theme park as well as a wet park and so on. Moreover, Genting highland also have their own Genting Skyway, it is covering a distance of 3.8km, which is South East Asia longest skyway system and also the world’s fastest skyway.

We are so excited and look forwards this time of Genting trip because we are quite a long time never contact as well as this might a last gathering since we all are going for study at different locations even different countrys.

It’s a two days one night trip, we are punctured from ours hometown Batu Pahat by bus express around 7.30am early in the morning. From Batu Pahat going to Genting highland approximately needed 5 hours distance of time arrive there. On the way, we was discussing and sharing about study and future planning.

Soon, we are reached Genting highland at 1 o’clock and supposed to check in but due to too many tourists check-in at the same time and we don’t want to wasted more time than we direct go to outdoor theme park for fun!! Inside outdoor theme park, there have a lot of exciting and funs lets us to choose. The first choices that we when was the Pivate Ship. The Pivate Ship front sit view is very beautiful and exciting, when the Pivate Ship waving it more higher u can see the whole theme park view more clearly and more “terrify”. When the Pivate Ship stop, can saw a lot people face looked so stone and I think must be too terrify for them.

After “Pivate Ship”, we continued to finding ours fun at Genting Highland outdoor dry park such as Fly Dragon, Rolling Thunder Mine Train, Cyclone, Spinner, Monorail and etc; wet park such as Boating, Sungai Rejang Flume Ride and Boating Boat. I didn’t play the Boating Boat which due to my weight!! sign…. Unfortunately, due to unknown reasons many rides was under repairing so quite a lot of rides we are missed.

There are two rides that I want specially to introduce there is : Corks Crew and Space Shot. Corks Crew is the only double-loop roller coaster in Malaysia. More of my friends they are scared to take the challenged included me but I decided to tried on it. At first I was so afraid and scared when I sit in the roller coaster “Corks Crew”, but in the end I found it very exciting and I decided to played three times. Tell you a secret actually this Corks Crew is not that scary. Space Shot, which is a rapid vertical ascent and descent amusement ride. It is really awesome ride, it lifts up you into the air, providing an exciting force on the way up and a feeling of weightlessness on the way down. You can’t even scream out when the force is pulling you on the way down.

Lastly, we played all the rides and it’s time for us to check in the hotel. Before we leave the outdoor theme park, we took some pictures for memory of this journey. It was a wonderful trip and the most importance is that we all seven friends can be gathering one more time. We do plan that want to come one more time at Genting to play others rides that we didn’t able to play for this trip.

The Beginning..

Firstly, welcome to visit my blog.

The reason why I chose to join Taylor’s university college is because I wanted to improve my English. I’m graduated from Chinese High School which is Chinese independence school. There’s using mandarin to educate every subject, so I was thought that English is not that importance in my secondary school life, I wasted more than 6 years for learning English. Now I just realized my life can’t ever without English since I’m get into college life, especially Taylor’s was more attach importance on English, so from a Chinese independence school transform to a English education school for me it’s “A new beginning”.

Honestly, I was so afraid going class every singer days. Scared people using English talking with me, having any presentation from lecturers, question and answer, even group discussion as well, I can’t ever expressed myself very well! First time I had a bad intention—give up. That week, I can’t sleep every nights, I don’t know which ways is good for me. I hope I can share with my parents but if I say I want to give up it will let them disappointed. What can I do? I even don’t know how to answer myself.

Our classmates almost can speak out an “awesome” English, good writing skill, had a good result of English examination, English education background, graduated from international school so on. They can exchange and answering question with lecturers very well. But me, I can’t really understand what lecturers said and sometime I can’t even catch up with schedule. In my eyes, they are so perfect and let me feel envy. Gradually, I lost my confidence.

Assignments, lots of assignment. When I asked classmates about assignments some people said, “essay, easy what~ just write down what you feel and what you want to express that all.” That is so easy for them. Assignments for me it’s so heavy and let me feel dizzy. Especially blog, it will show out and every classmate will view each other blogs some else even will compare it. Gosh, I was so hope that I can shirk this assignment!

One day, my friend called me asked me how was my college life, she advised me no to give up because I’m very persevered to taking this course no matter my family opposed or course’s counselor advised as well, because my English was poor. She remind me, I should get back my warm-heartedness on mass communication as before, I need to adapt this new life just can learn more and enjoy my college life.

Just because one calls, it changed my mind, it let me found back my warm-heartedness, it guided me back to the correct way. Now, I will not just envy how good their English, I will try to learn from them, show out my English audacious whatever how poor was it. Once you failed down, you will grown up from that, it’s what I realized. So, let’s be brave to adapt a new life and start from a new beginning!
